Founded in 1975, Shoemaking company Green Cross SA was born in an home-based workshop in Cape Town by founders Karl and Hildegard Zeppel.
Born into a shoemaking family in Germany, the couple used their heritage as insperation to create their German-style wooden clogs and cork sandals.
During the 1980s, the Zeppels’ sons joined the business and construction of the Epping factory began. Today, Epping remains the proud home of Green Cross Shoemakers, where over 400 craftsmen produce the majority of our beautiful leather footwear collection every year.
The company states that it creates every type of footwear; such as infant’s sandals and shoes, youth fashion sandals and shoes, school shoes, ladies cork sandals, wooden clogs, sandals, courts and slingbacks, men’s shoes and sandals and sport / active shoes.
